Border Patrol Agent Retrieves Two Children from Submerged Vehicle
Agent Travis Creteau was able to retrieve two little girls from a fully submerged vehicle after it crashed into a San Diego-area reservoir. Unfortunately, the children did not survive. For his efforts, agent Creteau has been named the May 2013 NLEOMF Officer of the Month.

Two Florida officers pursued an armed robbery suspect. The driver stopped and engaged the two officers, both of whom survived the ensuing gunfight. The assailant did not.

On July 25, Sgt. Kristin Shiner was relaxing at home. However, when she heard shots fired near her house, she quickly switched modes and successfully kept an armed neighbor who'd killed a door-to-door salesman from continuing to shoot.

Trooper Stops Wrong-Way Driver with Cruiser
Maine State Trooper Douglas Cropper got a call that an elderly man was driving the wrong way down I-295 in Portland and was headed in his direction. The trooper was prepared to ram the vehicle, but was able to stop it by edging the nose of his patrol car onto the highway, forcing the driver to crash into him.

Officers Save Two Sleeping Women from Burning Home
A few hours after ringing in the new year, Officer Jenni Byrd of the San Jose Police Department spotted a growing fire through the window of a woman's home. She and Officer Kris Kubasta rousted the sleeping woman and her friend upstairs and brought them outside to safety.

Two Chicago Cops Save One of Their Own
Officer Kirsten Lund and Sgt. Christopher Kapa responded to an officer-down call and immediately transported the profusely bleeding Officer Del Pearson in a squad car to a nearby emergency room, saving his life.

Officer Paralyzed in Shooting Now Working to Return to Patrol
Patrolman James Kuzak Jr. was shot and paralyzed from the waist down when he responded to a home invasion robbery. But he hasn't let his injuries keep him from working to regain the use of his legs and rejoin law enforcement.
