A Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, school resource officer died Tuesday after collapsing at the school.

Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Johns, 62, was assigned to Brookwood High School. He collapsed at the school Tuesday and was rushed with a police escort to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, AL.com reports.

“It is always heartbreaking to lose someone who dedicated so much of their life to serving the community,’’ the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

“Deputy Tim Johns’ passing is a great loss, not only to his colleagues at the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office but also to the students and staff at Brookwood High School, where he served as a school resource officer,’’ the post read.
