Four Tennessee officers were hit by gunfire and two brothers with criminal records were killed in an 11-hour standoff Tuesday night.

At about 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Clarksville officers executed arrest warrants at the location for two men: 33-year-old Leonard Michael Green and 31-year-old Brandon Lee Green, charging each with aggravated burglary. The brothers barricaded themselves in an apartment with a hostage, leading to several hours of negotiations with Clarksville officers, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told Clarksville Now.

The situation escalated when officers entered the home, and gunfire was exchanged, resulting in the Green brothers being shot and killed and the hostage being shot and wounded. Four Clarksville officers were also during the incident, but none sustained life-threatening wounds, officials say.

Leonard Green has had multiple arrests on charges including domestic assault, driving violations, evading arrest and contempt of court. In one high-profile incident in February 2019, while driving on a revoked license he crashed into stopped traffic on Ashland City Road then tried to flee, leading police on a 1-mile foot chase.

Most recently, Leonard Green was charged in October with violating probation. In that instance, he was charged with aggravated assault and vehicle burglary. He pleaded down to domestic assault. He admitted to the violation of probation in March this year.

Brandon Green has several arrests on his record, including on charges of aggravated assault, evading arrest and stalking, according to state and county records.

The condition of the wounded hostage has not been released.
