Customs agents arrested a 19-year-old man pretending to be disabled, who was attempting to smuggle wrapped packages of marijuana through a border checkpoint at San Ysidro near San Diego, Calif.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry discovered five pounds of marijuana hidden in the seat of the man's wheelchair, a CBP spokeswoman tells POLICE Magazine.

The man, a U.S. citizen, crossed into the U.S. from Mexico, entered the crossing's pedestrian processing area at about 11:30 p.m. on March 28.

A customs officer noticed the young man displaying signs of nervousness, and requested an officer with a narcotic detector dog. The dog alerted on the traveler.

During the ensuing inspection, customs officers discovered three packages of hidden inside the seat of the wheelchair. The packages contained about five pounds of marijuana.

Customs officers turned the man over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. He was booked into San Diego County's jail.
