The 65-acre campus of Erie County Medical Center was put on full lockdown Wednesday morning after a woman was fatally shot.

Police say the shooting occurred at about 8:15 a.m. inside an adjacent building that contains outpatient services and offices, reports the Associated Press. SWAT teams cordoned off all of the entrances.

The Buffalo News reports authorities are looking for 49-year-old Timothy Jorden Jr. as a person of interest. Jorden is a well-known, popular trauma surgeon at the hospital who has a military background and possibly has had special weapons training.

The victim has not yet been identified. Incoming patients were diverted to another local hospital. Two schools on the campus were also placed on lockdown.
