The Louisiana State Police entered a rural St. Joseph bank late Tuesday and shot and killed a mentally ill suspect who had taken three people hostage earlier in the day.
Troopers made the dynamic entry after negotiations broke down with 20-year-old Fuaed Abdo Ahmed, a paranoid schizophrenic who had threatened to kill the hostages.
Ahmed had released one of his three hostages. When police entered the Tensas State Bank branch, Ahmed fatally shot a hostage and wounded a second hostage. Troopers then killed Ahmed.
Ahmed's attack doesn't appear to be politically or religiously motivated, reports the Associated Press.
