Man Gets 13 Life Sentences for Shooting 2 Texas Officers, Other Crimes

Joshua Herrin was convicted in November of shooting Bryan police officer Najee Watson and Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brittany Re, both of whom survived, after stealing a squad car and leading law enforcement on a manhunt.

A man convicted of shooting two Texas law enforcement officers in 2022 was sentenced to 13 concurrent life sentences for those and other crimes he committed in a 12-hour crime spree and manhunt in 2022.

Joshua Herrin, 46, of Bryan entered pleas of guilty to multiple charges across two courtrooms Friday. He first appeared in Robertson County where he was given seven life sentences, and then he appeared in the 361st District Court in Bryan before Judge David Hilburn, who sentenced him to six life sentences plus a combined 84 years on lesser charges, the Eagle reports.

Herrin was convicted in November of shooting Bryan police officer Najee Watson and Brazos County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brittany Re, both of whom survived, after stealing a squad car and leading law enforcement on a manhunt.

In a plea agreement with prosecutors, Herrin accepted the maximum sentences on all charges with their penalties being increased by his status as a felon and a habitual offender. Among his charges are three counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, three counts of theft of a firearm, burglary of a habitation, burglary of a building, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful carrying of a weapon with a felony conviction, unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft of property between $30,000-$150,000, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
