Greensboro, North Carolina, Police Officer Michael Horan was killed Monday responding to a call about a man with a gun inside a grocery store.

Officer Michael Horan responded to a call of a man with a firearm inside of the store.
Horan was shot and killed inside the store at around 11 a.m., WFMY reports.
A suspect is in custody, police said.
The State Bureau of Investigations is leading the investigation of this case.
Horan was described as a husband, father, son and friend. In a Facebook statement Police said he was an excellent officer with an outstanding reputation.
A Food Lion spokesperson released the following statement regarding Horan's death:
Food Lion is deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred at our store located at 4709 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro. We express our deepest condolences to the officer’s family and friends.
