Video: OK Police Department Drone Finds Missing Autistic Child

The Del City Police Department, Oklahoma, shared video showing how it used the thermal capability of its drone to locate a missing autistic child recently.

The Del City Police Department, Oklahoma, released video showing how it used the thermal capability of its drone to locate a missing autistic child recently.

Around 8:46 p.m. on Feb. 9, officers responded to the report of a missing child. They arrived and learned the boy was autistic and had wandered away from home.

One of the officers deployed a drone to search for the missing boy. Using infrared, the officer saw the child walking in a nearby park and directed other officers to the location.

The video released by the department this week also contained body-worn camera footage from the officer who responded to the park and found the child, then returned him home.

β€œHey buddy, how you doing brother? You doing good,” the officer asked when he greeted the child in the park.
