Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who in March 2006 struck a Capitol Police officer, is running for president.
In that incident, McKinney circumvented a metal detector at the Longworth House Office Building and headed down the hall. She was stopped by a Capitol Police officer, and she struck him in the chest. McKinney argued that the officer stopped her because she was African American. The officer said he stopped her because she was not wearing a pin that identified her as a congresswoman.
