Baltimore police arrested a man they say is a drug kingpin following a vehicle pursuit that injured two officers Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Francis Steven Lee, 37, was taken into custody in Bolton Hill. Lee is the focus of a massive drug investigation and is described as a "high-level drug dealer" by police.

Official reports say that an organized crime unit had been tracking Lee at his home for some time. Lee escaped a stake out Wednesday when he came out of his house, drove away, sideswiped a car, and struck two plainclothes officers with his vehicle.

The names of the officers were not released. One suffered a broken ankle, the other a broken leg. Both officers are recovering and in good condition.

Later Wednesday afternoon—thanks to a tip—Baltimore SWAT and other officers arrested Lee at an apartment on Eutaw Street. The car used in his escape earlier that day was recovered nearby. Officers entered Lee's home and reportedly found small amounts of marijuana and cocaine and $130,000 in cash.

Lee faces 20 different charges, including first- and second-degree attempted murder and felony assault.
