A Gahanna (Ohio) police officer will return to his department, which had fired him after he was clocked speeding at 149 mph on a motorcycle while off duty, NBC4i.com reports.

Officer Christopher Thomas, 33, was fired, a decision reversed by arbitrators on Wednesday. They determined the department lacked just cause.

The incident occured in July while Thomas was on medical leave for an injury suffered during an on-duty accident while driving his patrol cruiser. An Ohio State Patrol trooper was clocked at 147 mph on his motorcycle.
