A gunman reportedly set fire to a vehicle outside of the McKinney (Texas) Police Department's headquarters to draw police into a gun fight, WFAA.com reports.
Officers exchanged fire with the yet-unidentified man, who set ablaze a white F-150 truck loaded with ammunition that had begun to fire. Using a semiautomatic rifle, he also fired on a campus police cruiser who responded to the scene.
The gunman, who was wearing a ballistic vest, was fatally shot after exchanging fire with officers. However, it's unclear whether from a police bullet or self-inflicted wound. Several rounds struck the police station, Deputy Chief Scott Brewer said.
Police searched nearby Collin College and placed it on lockdown, which has since been lifted.
