The man who killed a Clark County (Ohio) Sheriff's deputy on New Year's Day fired on other deputies during a 2001 confrontation that resulted in his visit to a mental facility, reports the Columbus Dispatch.
Michael Ferryman, 57, who fatally shot Deputy Suzanne Hopper and then died in a gun fight with officers from five agencies, fired at Morgan County (Ohio) Sheriff's deputies from inside a trailer in 2001.
No one was hurt in the earlier incident, and Ferryman was sent to a Columbus psychiatric facility.
