Two veteran dog trainers with the LAPD's Metropolitan Division headed to Asia to investigate the possibility of using the Korean Jindo dog for police work, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Traditionally, the LAPD has relied on German and Dutch shepherds and Belgian Malinois for K-9 duty, but the mid-size Jindos are known for their intelligence and hunting ability.
Officers are considering detection duty for the dogs, which are intensely loyal.
