Detroit Offers Cops Foreclosed Homes, Fix-It Funds To Live In City

Under a program known as "Project 14," officers would pay up to $1,000 for foreclosed houses and receive up to $150,000 in federal grants to rehabilitate them.

Detroits' Mayor Dave Bing unveiled an enticement program for Detroit PD officers to draw them back as residents within the city limits, the Detroit News reports.

At least 53 percent of the city's 3,000 police officers in Detroit live in the suburbs and the numbers are even higher for firefighters.
