BART Chief Backs Officers In Fatal Shooting

The Bay Area Rapid Transit police Chief Kenton Rainey on Monday publicly defended how his officers responded Sunday by fatally shooting an intoxicated man who used a bottle as a weapon and had a knife.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit police Chief Kenton Rainey on Monday publicly defended how his officers responded Sunday by fatally shooting an intoxicated man who used a bottle as a weapon and had a knife.

Chief Rainey said Monday he's "comfortable" with how officers reacted Sunday when one shot and killed the man on the Civic Center station platform.

One of the officers carried a TASER stun gun, but didn't use it during the encounter.
