A day after he was convicted of running over and killing a Lee County Sheriff's deputy, Lance Henderson offered an emotional apology to the deputy's family.

Henderson said, "I want to tell the family that I'm very sorry, and I ask that you one day will learn to forgive me."

Henderson was convicted of capital murder on Tuesday for running over and killing Deputy James Anderson. A jury is now deliberating on whether to reccommend the death penalty for Henderson. At least 10 voters are needed.

Anderson died Sept. 24, 2009, of traumatic asphyxia, caused by Henderson's car crushing his chest and preventing him from breathing.

Prosecutors testified that the manner of Anderson's death was especially heinous and cruel. The deputy lay under the vehicle—unable to breathe, unable to move and being burned by the vehicle.
