Parole Board Denies Clemency for Ga. Cop Killer
On Tuesday, Georgia's Board of Pardons and Paroles denied clemency for Troy Davis, convicted of shooting an officer in the chest and face. The move paves the way for his death by lethal injection on Wednesday.

Georgia's Board of Pardons and Paroles on Tuesday denied clemency for Troy Davis, convicted of shooting an officer in the chest and face. The move paves the way for his death by lethal injection on Wednesday.
Davis is scheduled to be put to death at 7 p.m. local time.
Anneliese MacPhail, the mother of slain Savannah police officer Mark Allen MacPhail, remained cautious of the decision. Davis was convicted in the 1989 shooting death of MacPhail while he worked an off-duty security job.
"This is our fourth time [to face an execution date] so you get kind of weary of it and [I] don't know if I can believe this," Anneliese MacPhail told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We are ready to close this book and start our lives. This has been a long haul."
