Detroit Police Officer William Booker-Riggs, a mayoral bodyguard, became the first officer to take advantage of Mayor Dave Bing's ambitious plan to make homeowners of 200 city officers.
The home was one of 10 donated by Bank of America. Chase Bank is expected to announce plans to make cash available as a move-in incentive, reports the Detroit Free Press.
With Bing's Project 14 announced in February, the Detroit mayor is hoping the officers who live outside of the city will relocate back and move in to the foreclosed homes.
