Former New York and Los Angeles top cop William Bratton's role as an unpaid advisor following widespread rioting in the United Kingdom has rankled some top police officials at Scotland Yard.

One detective inspector from London's police called Prime Minister David Cameron's decision to bring in Bratton "a sad indictment of what the government think of our senior officers in this country," Janet Stobart of the Los Angeles Times is reporting.
