Virginia Officer Dies During Dive Training

Officer Timothy Schock was participating in the training around 11:45 a.m. with the Underwater Search and Rescue team when he began to have "difficulty underwater.

A veteran Chesapeake police officer died Tuesday during underwater search and rescue training.

Officer Timothy Schock was participating in the training around 11:45 a.m. with the Underwater Search and Rescue team when he began to have "difficulty underwater, "said Chief K.L. Wright in a prepared statement. Schock was assisted by his teammates, who along with the members of the Chesapeake Fire Department tried to revive him.

He was pronounced dead at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Wright said.
