Though a former Bay City (Mich.) Police officer has filed a lawsuit claiming sexism led to her termination, attorneys representing Bay City are claiming she was fired in part for dereliction of duty, reports the Bay City News.
An attorney representing Bay City, filed a motion Jan. 4 that states the Bay City Police Department dismissed Blood "as a result of progressive disciplinary action which was taken based on multiple instances of misconduct over an eight month period."
The department claims it disciplined Blood for leaving her 3-year-old son unattended in a vehicle in the department's parking lot while she was on duty, failing to disclose an intimate relationship with a coworker, leaving a crime scene without permission, being involved in a physical altercation at a Bay City bar, being involved in a traffic crash while under the influence of alcohol and leaving the site and not showing up to work on Aug. 2, 2010, the day before her employment was terminated.
