Video: N.J. Cop Interrupts 'Excessive Force'
A Bogota (N.J.) Police officer is now under disciplinary review for interfering with two Richfield Park officers attempting to detain the emotionally disturbed son of a city councilwoman.

A Bogota (N.J.) Police officer is now under disciplinary review for interfering with two Richfield Park officers attempting to detain the emotionally disturbed son of a city councilwoman.
The Bogota officer, Regina Tasca, complicated the officers' efforts when she started "pushing and pulling" Detective Sgt. Joseph Rella, as the Ridgefield Park officers were trying to restrain him on April 29, 2011. Tara Sharp, a Bogota councilwoman at the time, had called police because she said her 22-year-old son, Kyle, was acting erratically, reports The Record.
Dash-cam video of the encounter shows Tasca making the initial contact with the Sharps with another officer. The two Ridgefield Park officers arrive, and an officer later identified as Sgt. Rella is seen tackling Kyle Sharp.
At an April 25 hearing, Tasca's attorney suggested that Tasca's interference stopped excessive force by Rella, who had punched Sharp one time. Officer Tasca is also claiming gender discrimination because she "crossed the thin blue line," reports NJ.com.
