The North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper who was shot four times by a wanted Vermont suspect during a traffic stop Monday is now listed in stable condition.
Trooper Michael Potts, 42, pulled over a Nissan Altima driven by Mikel Edward Brady, 23, on U.S. Highway 70 near Cheek Road in eastern Durham Monday night. Trooper Potts pulled over Brady for not wearing a seatbelt, reports the News & Observer .
