A University of Virginia college student has been cleared after fleeing from state alcohol-control agents who mistook her purchase of bottled water for a 12-pack of beer.
Elizabeth Daly, 20, was confronted by six plainclothes Alcoholic Beverage Control agents in April, after leaving a Harris Teeter in April. Daly says one of the agents drew a gun. Others tried to break her vehicle window, which caused her to attempt to flee the parking lot, reports the Daily Progress.
The agents apparently showed badges that Daly was unable to identify, reports WJLA. She was with her two roommates, and had also purchased cookie dough and ice cream.
