A fleeing suspect rammed a Eustace (Texas) Police officer Saturday with a stolen truck and was later shot and killed by an off-duty Garland Police officer working security at a Wal-Mart.
A fleeing suspect rammed a Eustace (Texas) Police officer Saturday with a stolen truck and was later shot and killed by an off-duty Garland Police officer working security at a Wal-Mart.
The Eustace PD officer initiated a pursuit of Casey Daniel Smith, who refused to stop. After the two headed off the highway onto a dirt road, Smith stopped the white work truck and reversed into the officer's patrol car. Smith then accelerated forward, made a U-turn, and headed back toward the officer.
Smith abandoned the truck and assaulted an 82-year-old woman in her garage. He then stole her Cadillac and headed for Garland. The off-duty officer attempted to arrest Smith the next day for shoplifting. Smith was shot and killed when he tried to attack the officer with a crowbar, reports KLTV.
