Video: Houston Officer Turns Tables on Attempted Ambush
A group of suspects targeted a veteran Houston police officer in an attempted ambush that ended with one of the teens being shot and wounded.

A group of suspects targeted a veteran Houston police officer in an attempted ambush that ended with one of the teens being shot and wounded late Thursday, reports KHOU.
According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 11:30 p.m. when the 34-year veteran officer was driving home in his personal vehicle from a second job and noticed he was being followed.
The officer stopped his car. Instead of continuing on, the suspect vehicle stopped and one male got out with a gun in hand and started toward the officer.
The officer got out of his car and repeatedly identified himself as a police officer and ordered the suspect to stop. The suspect ignored the command and pointed his gun at the officer. Then a passenger exited the car and began running and shooting at the sergeant. The 15-year-old suspect was shot in the buttocks.
The suspect ran back to the car where three other suspects were waiting, and the car fled the scene. But they later called 911 to report the shooting. All four teen-aged suspects were apprehended. The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital.
The Houston sergeant says he was just doing his job and glad this didn't happen to one of his neighbors.
People in this neighborhood say he is a hero who has gone above and beyond to protect this community, and they feel his actions send a strong message to criminals to not come back.
The suspect who was shot in the buttocks is being treated at the hospital, but is expected to be OK.
The three others have been booked into jail. Police say they're still not sure if these would-be-robbers wanted to rob the sergeant, steal his car, or both.
