A Harrison County (Mo.) Sheriff’s Department deputy died of a heart attack on duty at the age of 34.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Dep. Steven “Brett” Hawkins suffered a fatal heart attack following an emergency response on Sep. 13. The call involved a frantic subject and a subsequent search of the home and large surrounding area. He suffered the heart attack several hours after returning following his shift.
Hawkins joined the Harrison County Sheriff’s department in Aug. of 2012, reports the St. Joseph Post. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and three sons.
