A carjacking suspect was killed in a shootout with police following a pursuit through North Seattle Sunday evening, the Seattle Police Department said.
Police were initially called to a downtown coffee shop around 12:30 p.m. after employees called 911 to report a man had entered the coffee shop with a gun. The armed suspect then fled to a tattoo parlor, leading to another 911 call, police said.
The suspect then stole a red Volkswagen at gunpoint, and drove to the Montlake area where he stole another car, police told KOMO TV.
Officers began to pursue the suspect in Montlake when he opened fire and fled to the Ravenna neighborhood, police said. The suspect opened fire again at officers at Northeast 68th Street and 35th Avenue NE in Wedgewood, and was fatally wounded when officers returned fire.
