VIDEO: 2 Detained After Shots Fired at CA Officers, Bystander Wounded
Two people were detained after shots were fired at Torrance, CA, police officers and a bystander was struck by gunfire in Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon, according to LAPD.
About 3 p.m., the Torrance police officers were fired upon but not struck, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sal Ramirez. It’s not yet known if the officers were in their vehicle or on foot, he said.
A bystander was struck by a bullet and was hospitalized with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, Ramirez said.
It’s not clear what the Torrance officers were doing in Los Angeles’ Wilmington neighborhood, which is within LAPD's Harbor Division patrol area. The Torrance border is several miles away.
Two possible suspects were in custody on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer, Ramirez told KTLA TV.
