Police have named Israel Alvarez as the suspect in the deadly hit-skip that killed Cleveland Police Officer David Fahey.
Alvarez, 44, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on East 31st St. in Lorain. Officers used Fahey's handcuffs on Alvarez.
Officer Fahey was struck and killed by a white Camry on I-90 westbound around 6:00 Tuesday morning. Police say Alvarez, who was driving, fled the scene. He was arrested on the charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and felony hit skip.
Officer Fahey was putting flares on the road to divert traffic from an accident in Rocky River, WOIO TV reports.
