Shannon Dresser, a police officer with the Katy (TX) Independent School District Police Department, was named Miss Texas United States last week.
Dresser has competed in pageants since she was a child. Her passion for baton twirling led her to pageants where she was able to showcase her skill.
She comes from a law enforcement family. Both her parents are retired LAPD officers.
Dresser is involved in multiple programs to help mentor young people and bridge the gap between police and the public, ABC 13 reports.
