An Omaha, NE, police officer was injured early Sunday when he was hit by a bottle while breaking up a large disturbance.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, suffered a facial fracture from the thrown bottle, according to Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman. Police were called to the area about a block south of Ames Avenue at 3 a.m., he said.

As officers attempted to disperse the crowd, an officer was struck in the face by the bottle. A 31-year-old man was booked into jail after officers said they witnessed him throwing bottles at other officers, reports the Omaha World-Herald.
