Zachary Cruz, the brother of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School gunman Nikolas Cruz, is showing the “same flags” exhibited by his brother and should be kept in jail following his arrest for trespassing at the Parkland school, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
A magistrate judge agreed, setting an unusually high bond of $500,000 for trespassing on school grounds, a second-degree misdemeanor that typically results in a $25 bond, the Palm Beach Post reports.
Zachary Cruz, 18, was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Monday after he rode his skateboard onto the campus where his 19-year-old brother used an AR-15 to kill 17 people and injure 17 others on Valentine’s Day.
Prosecutor Sarahnell Murphy said Cruz admitted trespassing at the school twice before and that his arrest Monday had caused parents to keep their children home from school on Tuesday.
