Officer Luis Santos with the Auburn (MA) Police Department has returned to duty, according to a post on the Auburn Police Association Facebook page.

"Officer Santos has been out after he was struck by a motor vehicle that was fleeing a house break in Millbury while outside of his cruiser in February 2017," the APA said in its post.

Santos was attempting to end the vehicle pursuit by deploying stop sticks when he was struck. Santos was hospitalized for six days with a concussion, a broken leg and other injuries. He underwent multiple surgeries and months of physical therapy before returning to duty on Monday, according the Worcester Telegram.

"He had a long recovery to include an extended hospital stay, surgeries, and physical therapy. We’re so happy to have him back!"
