An officer with the New Rochelle (NY) Police Department was injured during an arrest of a suspected drug dealer and his alleged customer on a train station platform.
According to USA Today, officers observed the alleged transaction between the subjects—identified as 29-year-old Richard Raffaele and 21-year-old Muhammed Secka—and attempted to make arrests.
Raffaele allegedly tried to run but was tackled by one of the officers, who sustained an injury during the ensuing struggle.
The officer was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
Raffaele is now facing felony charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and second-degree assault as well as a misdemeanor charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Secka was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
