Texas Officers Attend Fallen Officer's Son's First Football Game
Law enforcement officers from Southern Texas—including contingents from the Mission Police Department, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, and the US Customs and Border Protection—were among a "sea of law enforcement" who attended the first football game to be played by the 13-year-old son of a Mission PD officer killed in the line of duty in June.

According to Fox News, Corporal Jose Espericueta had been looking forward to seeing his son play in his first seventh-grade football game but he was killed before he got that opportunity.
Corporal Espericueta was shot and killed as he and other officers responded to a call for help from a woman who said her son had shot at her car.
Officer Javier Lara said, "We made a promise to the family that we're gonna be there for special events. Being the first football game, we gathered agencies from across the valley to let him know that we're still there, even though his dad's not."
Corporal Espericueta had served with the Mission Police Department for 13 years.
