Man Tied to 2018 Death of Utah Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Charges

A man who was tied to the death of South Salt Lake Police Officer David Romrell in November 2018 has pleaded guilty to a host of charges against him.

A man who was tied to the death of South Salt Lake Police Officer David Romrell in November 2018 has pleaded guilty to a host of charges against him.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the man—44-year-old Jeffrey Black—pleaded guilty to being in the passenger seat of a vehicle that struck Officer Romrell as the vehicle was speeding away from the scene of a reported robbery in progress.

The driver of the vehicle was shot and killed by other officers at the scene.

Black faces up to 15 years in prison on each charge.

Officer Romrell was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had served with the South Salt Lake Police Department for 11 months.
