An officer with the Dothan (AL) Police Department was reportedly dragged by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver on Thursday night.

The agency said in a statement that the female officer had responded to multiple calls of a possible impaired driver in a vehicle that was dragging its rear bumper and had no headlights illuminated. The officer made contact with the driver in a parking lot, and the motorist quickly fled, dragging the officer for a period of time, police say.

The motorist—identified as 37-year old Jennifer Linsey Viveiros—fled the scene but soon crashed her vehicle. Arriving officers gave commands for her to exit the car, but she refused. A K-9 was deployed and the arrest was made,

Viveiros is now charged with assault and DUI, according to the Dothan Police Department statement.
