An officer with the El Paso (TX) Police Department shot and wounded an armed man who was walking near the grounds of a local high school.
According to ABC-TV, police responded to a call of an armed man in the vicinity of the school on Wednesday morning.
There was an alleged confrontation, and an officer shot and wounded the 23-year-old subjec, whose identity has not been released. The subject was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer—a 22-year veteran of the department—has been placed on standard administrative leave while the incident is investigated by Texas Rangers.
