Tennessee Officer Shoots, Wounds Knife-Wielding Suspect

An officer with the Knoxville Police Department shot and wounded a knife-wielding subject who was suspected of committing a burglary on Saturday afternoon.

An officer with the Knoxville Police Department shot and wounded a knife-wielding subject who was suspected of committing a burglary on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Ridgefield Press, officers say they entered the home of a woman who said she was the victim of a burglary and encountered the subject—identified by police as 36-year-old Zacharaih Allen holding a knife and refusing to comply with commands to put it down.

Allen was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No officers were injured.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
