3 Massachusetts Officers Stabbed During Incident Involving Stolen Vehicle

Three officers with the Saugus Police Department were stabbed—and another injured—as they were attempting to investigate a report of a stolen rental vehicle that had not been returned.

Three officers with the Saugus Police Department were stabbed—and another injured in another manner—as they were attempting to investigate a report of a stolen rental vehicle.

According to Boston.com, Assistant Saugus Police Chief Ron Giorgetti said that the three officers who were stabbed were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other injured officer was evaluated on scene and transported to a local hospital as a precaution. His injuries are thought to not be serious.

The alleged assailant—identified as 43-year-old—Steven Sossong—has been charged with four counts each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a police officer.
