An instructor and a student were wounded Monday in an accidental shooting at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth. Injuries were thought to be non-life-threatening.
Officials familiar with the shooting told The Telegraph that a bullet fired from a gun during a training session struck an Atlanta-area police officer in the calf and then hit an instructor in the foot.
Both individuals were taken by ambulance to a Macon, GA, hospital.
GPSTC opened in 1980 and has been training the public safety community longer than any other institution in Georgia. GPSTC’s training divisions include the Georgia Police Academy, the Georgia Fire Academy, the Basic Training Division, and the Instructional Services Division.
