Wrap Unveils Patent Pending Wide Area Kinetic Anti-Drone Cassette for Effective Government C-UAS Operations
The 1KC system uses tether-based entanglement to disable hostile drones and is designed for deployment at the squad, patrol, or base-defense level.

The Wrap 1KC Kinetic Anti-Drone Cassette is designed to disable hostile drones using tether-based entanglement and can be deployed from handheld or unmanned platforms.
Wrap Technologies
Wrap Technologies has announced the 1KC: Kinetic Anti-Drone Cassette, a counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) tool that extends the company’s tether technology into drone defense applications.
The 1KC is built on Wrap’s patented tether design and existing manufacturing infrastructure. The cassette is compact, modular, and designed for portability. It offers extended range, a wide entanglement area, and is intended to be reusable and cost-efficient.
The system is designed to integrate with the PAN-DA handheld launcher and the MERLIN housing system for unmanned aerial and ground platforms. A UAS equipped with multiple cassettes could disable several drones in a single mission, depending on operational conditions.
“By extending our BolaWrap platform, we can pursue new opportunities in counter-drone operations,” said Jared Novick, President and Chief Operating Officer of Wrap. “We are working to accelerate adoption and develop cassette families for multiple mission sets.”
Designed for Layered Defense
The 1KC is intended to align with the Department of Defense’s “detect, identify, decide, defeat” framework by providing a kinetic defeat option at the squad, patrol, or base-defense level. Future adaptations may allow integration into autonomous C-UAS systems for counter-swarm operations.
Potential applications include:
Base defense, where modular cassettes could extend protective coverage.
Squad-level protection, offering small units a portable counter-drone tool.
Integration with autonomous systems for coordinated counter-swarm effects.
“This cassette gives the field another option for addressing evolving C-UAS threats,” said Mike Brown, vice president of products at Wrap. “We’re eager to see how operators adapt it across platforms.”
Key Features of the 1KC Cassette
Compatible with PAN-DA handheld and Merlin housing systems for UAS/UGV integration
Adjustable bores for expanded entanglement area against drones at varying ranges
Scalable for multi-target capability, allowing multiple units to be carried on one platform
