Tacoma (Washington) Police Department Chief Avery Moore has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Moore was placed on paid administrative leave effective Wednesday, September 25. TPD spokesperson Shelbie Boyd said Deputy Chief Paul Junger has been named acting police chief, KOMO reports.
The city of Tacoma has not provided a reason why Moore was placed on administrative leave. However, a city spokesperson confirmed the reason was not due to a criminal investigation.
City manager Elizabeth Pauli is the only person who can put a department head like the police chief on leave.
