Two men have been charged after an incident on Tuesday night during which and officer with the St. Louis County (MO) Police Department came under gunfire.

According to NBC News, 27-year-old Matthew Higgins has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. In addition, 42-year-old Kenneth Bull was charged with first- and second-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest.

The incident occurred when the officer saw a car with bad plates and attempted to make a traffic stop, according to the probable cause statement. As the officer was getting out of his car, Higgins fired two shots in his direction and Bull—who was driving—took off.

Following a 15-minute vehicle pursuit their car became disabled and officers were able to arrest the men.

Each is being held on $150,000 bond.
