Three veteran Wilmington police officers, who each had been with the Wilmington Police Department for more than two decades, were fired this week after a video recording in one of the officers’ cars revealed racist comments about local black citizens, fellow black officers and criminal justice employees, and the department’s newly appointed black police chief.
The police department, stating the need to maintain public confidence in the city and police, released several documents relating to the terminations, including the former officers’ termination letters and their complete WPD work histories, as well as a summary of the internal investigation.
