Police investigating a series of shootings involving suspects in a vehicle firing upon other vehicles in North Chicago themselves came under fire early Sunday morning, police said on Wednesday.
According to the Daily Herald, police had visited several locations where shots had been reported, finding several vehicles struck by gunfire before an officer spotted a vehicle fitting the description of the suspect vehicle.
A traffic stop was initiated, but the suspects fled. A brief pursuit ensued during which at least two shots were fired, police say.
The suspects—identified as 26-year-old Raymond Steward, 27-year-old James Towns, and 28-year-old Willie Bell—were apprehended and taken into custody.
All three are charged with first-degree attempted murder of a peace officer, reckless discharge of a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm
