A Boston police detective was unhurt Sunday evening after a man approached his car and fired multiple times at his unmarked vehicle.

He was checked out at an area hospital but had no injuries.
"Our officers go out every day to try to protect the community. We are faced with some serious, serious issues and problems such as gun violence, that are out there, but we are here to protect the community any way we can. But this is an example of true professionalism and calmness under pressure," says Police Commissioner Michael Cox.
Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting, but no further details have been released about the alleged gunman.
